Community Investment Committee

The Community Investment Committee (CIC) is a group of dedicated volunteers who play a vital role in ensuring that United Way’s Community Fund is invested wisely and effectively. This committee reviews funding requests from local agencies, visits organizations, conducts interviews, and carefully evaluates submissions to make informed recommendations. These recommendations are then presented to the United Way Board of Directors for approval.

By participating in this process, CIC members help strengthen the capacity of nonprofits in our region. The committee is divided into four Agency Support Teams, which focus on key areas such as board development, program oversight, communication, and addressing emerging issues. This hands-on approach ensures that funded programs truly make an impact in our community.

The CIC is essential because it brings local voices into the decision-making process, ensuring that investments reflect the needs and priorities of the Wood Buffalo region. It’s about more than funding—it’s about building a stronger, more connected community.
