Fort McMurray, AB- United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo has partnered with the Wood Buffalo Food Bank, Printing Unlimited, and Chocolates and Candlelight for a Hygiene Kits for High Schools initiative in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The four organizations have teamed up to prepare and distribute 800 feminine hygiene kits to high schools in the Fort McMurray Catholic School Division, Fort McMurray Public School Division and Northland School Division.
“The intent of International Women’s Day is to celebrate the many achievements of women,” said Cathy Steeves, Executive Director United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo. “If we remove barriers for young girls, we help them on their journey to becoming successful women. The purpose of this initiative is to ensure local girls have free access to feminine hygiene products and can attend school with confidence.”
Each kit includes feminine hygiene products, helpful information about the 211 referral service, and a chocolate treat.
“Printing Unlimited believes it takes a community collaboration to help one another,” said Natalie Kemeny, General Manager Printing Unlimited. “We are very excited to be a United Way Partner and create positive impact through this partnership.”
