About Us

Strengthening the Wood Buffalo Region

United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo supports individuals and families across the Wood Buffalo region by strengthening the social services they rely on. Through a network of 11 trusted partner agencies, we are there when support is needed most—helping thousands of people access vital programs and resources each year.

Working closely with businesses, industry, government, generous donors, and other social profits, we identify gaps in community services and bring people together to create meaningful, collective solutions.

Mobilize

As a community-building organization, United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo is committed to working tirelessly to ensure our region is equitable, safe, and inclusive—especially for Indigenous and racialized communities.

Our Commitment to Reconciliation

United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo is committed to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. As a charity serving the Wood Buffalo region with a mandate for local impact, we view reconciliation as an opportunity to honor Indigenous Peoples and strengthen our commitment to them.

We will do this by:

Listening to, consulting with, and learning from Indigenous community members about their strengths and ways of knowing and being.

Reflecting on our relationship with Indigenous Peoples.

Collaborating with Indigenous communities and organizations whose work aligns with ours.

Embracing Indigenous voices, leadership, and participation in all aspects of our organization.
